Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes
September 9, 2024 Ellicottville Town Center
Members attending: Sue Blesy, Mike Braun, Ed Chapman, Blair Hamilton, Laurie Barrera. Gretchen Plough, Steve Ward, and Diane Smith.
- Call to order and welcome.
- Review and approve meeting agenda
- Minutes: The trustees considered the minutes of the August 12, 2024 meeting. Gretchen made motion and Sue seconded to accept the minutes. The motion was approved and carried by a unanimous vote.
- Guest Speaker:
- Kelly McDonald reminded us of the Chestnut Wood walk on September 28th
- October 5th a discussion with Cornell Maple industry and Conner from Arga Forestry about mushrooms.
- Treasurers report: Laurie reported income of $ 7711.00 for the 1/1/24 to 9/6/24 period. Expenses totaled $ 5245.61. Diane moved and Blair seconded to accept report. The motion was approved and carried by a unanimous vote.
- Committee and Project Reports:
- Technology: No report
- Tree mapping, Inventory, and Signage: Steve would like to have the year the tree was planted to be added to the Plantsoon web site.
- Tree Maintenance and Pruning Plan: Draves is investigating the warranty of the plume oak we planted. We have yet to hear back.
- Ground and Infrastructure Maintenance:
- St. Mathews is to remove our dead maple tree for a cost of $ 1000.00
- Steve pressure washed the gazebo and he and Bobbie stained it.

- Volunteers:
- October 21st is the tentative date for our volunteers luncheon at Katy’s Fly in.
- The Town will be at the Arboretum to pound in stakes for the deer fencing.
- Ray will be cooking hot dogs next week for a farewell celebration.

- Education Program/ Speakers:
- Nan has lesson plan for ECS 3rd graders coming on October 2nd.
- Tentative date is October 15th for Senior Citizens group to come tour the Arboretum.

- Town of Ellicottville:
- Steve will check on the town to help funding money for a solar fountain in the pond, after we hear back from Jake Kelly.

- Unfinished Business
- Several of our Volunteers moved and placed a large rock in the Dwarf Conifer Garden
- Received a price of $1100 to $ 1700 for a new picnic table.
- It was suggested getting more millings to finish off area where our mulch pile was and making it an area for a picnic table near the pollinator garden.
